Last year, during my last months in Melbourne, I got a text from one of my closest and oldest friends from Italy
“We need to talk, I have some important news for you. Skype?”
Minutes later, we were online. I see him show up in the video, his girlfriend next to him and they both had THAT smile on their face.
I knew it before they even said it: “We're getting married!”

Stand up comedian Eriq Law as I met him at "Spleen"
A the beginning of August I packed my belongings in a backpack and moved to Melbourne.
There’s a million reasons why I did that and this is not the blog post to talk about it, but one of the main reason is te fact that I want to work with comedians a lot and Melbourne is Australia’s Stand Up Comedy Capital.
In these first six months I went to every single stand up comedy night I could afford and studied the scene to understand better how to work with them.
In doing so, I found myself spending a ridiculous amount of time around or with stand up comedians.
I found out that stand up comedians and photographers feel very strongly towards their passion and, surprisingly, in a very similar way!

You know those sleepless nights spent on the computer, jumping between Youtube videos, tech blogs, facebook, weird twitter accounts ecc ecc? Well, I had one of those over a month ago.
No, wait. That's a lie. I have one of those EVERY OTHER DAY.
But in that particular one, over a month ago, something different happened : for some weird reason, I kept stumbling upon content that had to do with medium format film. Youtube videos of photographers talking about it (yes, Zack Arias played a major role there), reviews of medium format digital bodies and comparisons with film, entire new bodies of work shot of old Hasselblad cameras and tons of other stuff I couldn't recall to save my life.
Long story short, before giving my eyes a rest from hours and hours of internet and surrender to sleep, I found an old Mamiya 645E body + lens bundle on Ebay Australia and bought it for dirt cheap.

I'm sure you didn't let slip through your fingers the fact that it was advertised by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and by Steve Jobs himself as "the biggest thing to happen to books since the invention of the book" (attention: parts of the previous sentence might be made up).
